Uploaded files stay in your browser.
How to get a DOCX

In Microsoft Word, save a copy as .docx. For older .doc files, convert to DOCX first. In Google Docs, use File → Download → Microsoft Word (.docx). Upload the saved file here.

Only comments present in the DOCX can be exported. Google connection can add resolved threads that Google still returns for this document. Deleted or unavailable comments cannot be recovered.

Export Google Docs comments to Excel

Turn a document discussion into a spreadsheet you can sort, filter and share. Import a Google Docs link or upload a Microsoft Word DOCX. The Comments row is selected for you, with XLSX available as the main download. CSV is useful when importing the same feedback into Google Sheets, a project tracker or another spreadsheet tool.

Each comment or reply becomes a row with its available author, date, quoted passage and text. Thread identifiers and reply flags help keep a conversation together. The export also includes the status recorded in the source. Use the author, date and status filters to narrow the list before downloading, for example when collecting one editor’s feedback or preparing a follow-up checklist.

Export Microsoft Word comments, too

Save your Word document as DOCX and upload it directly. No Google account is needed for a local file. Older .doc files must first be saved in the newer format. Google Docs users can import a document link or download a Microsoft Word (.docx) copy. Local processing runs in the browser; a public-link import passes the document download through the service.

Example spreadsheet

A project brief might contain a question from Alex about a deadline and a reply from Sam confirming Friday. The workbook keeps these as separate rows, with the quoted passage and thread information when available. You can add your own owner, action and completion columns in Excel afterwards. The export does not invent assignments or turn feedback into generated tasks.

What the list can include

Availability depends on the imported file. A Word DOCX may omit deleted or resolved comments; Google connection can add resolved threads that Google still returns for this document. Missing status flags are treated as open. Tracked changes and Google Docs suggestions are separate from comments and can be selected separately in Export all. This spreadsheet does not reproduce the document’s page layout or full revision history.

Questions & answers

Should I choose XLSX or CSV?

XLSX opens directly as an Excel workbook. CSV is a plain-text table supported by many other tools. Both contain the same selected comment records.

Can I export comments without the whole document?

Yes. Download XLSX or CSV directly. In browser mode, the optional ZIP includes the selected data formats and a manifest, without the uploaded DOCX. A selected PDF is prepared as a separate download.

Do filters affect the download?

Yes. XLSX and CSV follow the active author, date and status filters. Clear the filters to include all available comments again.

How do I print the document with comments?

Use PDF with comments. It places feedback beside or below the relevant text and opens Print / Save PDF. This page is for a spreadsheet list.
